We’re Carbon Neutral!

As a carbon Balanced printer, working in partnership with the Woodland Trust and the Woodland Carbon scheme, Lonsdale are able to help you to balance the CO2 emissions from your paper purchases by planting native woodland, right here in the UK.

What does being Carbon Neutral mean?

"Carbon neutral" refers to the state in which an individual, organisation, or activity has balanced its carbon emissions with an equivalent amount of carbon removal or offsetting measures. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere through various human activities, such as burning fossil fuels for energy, deforestation, and industrial processes. These emissions contribute to climate change.

To achieve carbon neutrality, one typically follows these steps:

  1. Measure Emissions: Calculate the total greenhouse gas emissions produced from all relevant activities, often referred to as a carbon footprint.

  2. Reduce Emissions: Implement strategies to minimize carbon emissions. This can include energy efficiency measures, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and adopting sustainable practices.

  3. Offset Emissions: Compensate for the remaining emissions by investing in projects or activities that remove or reduce an equivalent amount of greenhouse gases elsewhere. This could involve projects like reforestation, renewable energy projects, or methane capture initiatives.

The goal of achieving carbon neutrality is to mitigate the impact of human activities on the climate, ultimately helping to address and combat global climate change. Many individuals, companies, and even entire countries are setting targets to become carbon neutral as part of broader sustainability and environmental initiatives.
